Arts & Culture/Museum
At the foot of the Acropolis, just a few steps from the well-known pedestrian area of Dionisiou Areopagitou, the “Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum” is the only museum devoted to the art of contemporary jewelry, in Greece. It is located in a beautiful renovated residence of the ‘30s which used to be the old workshop of the famous jewelry designer Ilias Lalaounis. The Museum’s permanent collection includes over 4000 pieces of jewelry and micro sculpture items designed by the museum’s founder between 1940 and 2000 – some of which have been worn by celebrities all around the world. Temporary exhibitions of applied arts and also educational creative courses for children and adults take place throughout the year. Don’t miss  the original jewelry workshop at the ground floor of the museum, the interesting gift shop and the cosy café at the patio.
